Welcome A Southwest Airlines flight was forced into an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport the morning of April 17 th after an engine exploded midflight. The force of the explosion sent shrapnel into the airplane’s cabin and burst open a window. One passenger died from her injuries and at least seven others were seriously injured. While aviation accidents are rare, the lawsuit that follows can be extremely complex, especially when it involves a commercial airline. Plane accidents can occur for any number of reasons, including pilot failure, mechanical error, weather, sabotage, and human error, so determining liability and compensation requires a considerable amount of detailed work. According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), a leading cause of commercial truck accidents is fatigued drivers. Fatigue makes up 13% of all truck accidents, which can have devastating and deadly effects on those involved.
