Attorney George Fleming Attended the University of Texas System’s Chancellor’s Council Executive Meeting

Fleming | Nolen | Jez lawyer George Fleming attended the University of Texas (UT) System’s Chancellor’s Council Executive Meeting on April 28. According to the official website,
The Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee is the core leadership group for the Chancellor. The group convenes several times annually and engages in dialogue with the Chancellor, UT System executive officers, UT presidents and faculty regarding special initiatives and issues of importance to higher education in Texas.
At the meeting, Mr. Fleming, a member of the executive committee for many years, was able to have a discussion with the Chancellor concerning one issue in particular. In addition, reports and remarks were made by previous chancellors and presidents of different UT institutions, including the president of the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Fleming attended a program involving the prevalence, perceptions, and prevention of sexual harassment, stalking, dating/domestic abuse and violence, and unwanted sexual contact. The UT System has prepared an extensive report and has placed an emphasis on student safety.
The UT System consists of 14 academic and healthcare institutions. It educates over 220,000 students each year and confers over one-third of the State’s undergraduate degrees and two-thirds of the State’s healthcare professions. The UT System has over 20,000 faculty including Nobel laureates and many members of national academies. The UT System also employs over 80,000 healthcare professionals, researchers and support staff. It is one of the largest employers in the state with an operating budget of almost $18 billion.
