Small Plane Crash Near Hobby Airport Results in 3 Deaths
Authorities are investigating a small plane crash that occurred near Hobby Airport on Thursday and resulted in three deaths. According to reports, the small airplane came down and collided with a car parked outside of Gateway Hardware & Rental on Telephone Road. Now, investigators are looking into what could have caused the plane to come down.
The crash occurred at roughly 1:15 P.M. when the plane — which was traveling to Hobby Airport from Norman, Oklahoma — came down and hit a parked sedan upon its descent into the ground. According to the National Transportation Board, the single-engine Cirrus SR20 was approaching too high. This happened twice as air traffic controllers had to warn the pilot.
According to news reports, the decedents were siblings from Moore, Oklahoma. This was where the plane was registered.
Tom Latson, the safety investigator with NTSB in Houston, had the following to say,
After exiting the go-around maneuver, the aircraft was seen to descend suddenly, nose first into the parking lot of the Ace Hardware here in the 6800 block of Telephone Road.
Investigations will continue to determine the cause of the crash.
