Houston Bus Accident Results in Over 30 Injured

June 2, 2016 · FLEMING | NOLEN | JEZ, L.L.P.

inside of busOn June 1, just before 1:30 p.m., a METRO Houston bus was traveling northbound on Chartres when — authorities report — a black Ford pickup truck ran a stop sign. The truck was traveling westbound on Runnels and crashed into the bus. The aftermath was the bus hitting a freeway sign. According to reports, the bus was mangled and the passengers were scared; some were injured.

When the Houston Fire Department arrived, they had to treat 4 people at the scene of the crash, and 28 others were transported to a nearby hospital. All in all, there were more than 30 people injured in the crash and at least one of them was in critical condition.

The METRO bus had a camera on it and the video will be used to help aid in the investigation regarding what exactly happened. Nobody was immediately charged in connection with the collision, and the most of the passengers are more excited that it wasn’t worse rather than focusing on the damages sustained.

This is a situation that can happen far too often and when it does, individuals can sustain serious injuries. This is due, in part, to the fact that the bus doesn’t have the proper safety equipment to keep passengers in their sets during a collision. It is also a result of dangerous and reckless drivers who do not abide to the laws on the road.
